Why it is called bash?

The name bash is an acronym for “Bourne Again SHell”. It is a shell program from the GNU project and was developed by Stephen Richard (Steve) Bourne. It is an enhanced replacement for sh (Bourne Shell), the original Unix shell program also written by Steve Bourne. The Bourne Shell was the default shell of Unix version 7.
